About Douglas

The Town of Douglas Massachusetts was founded in 1746 and is located in Worcester County on the southern border of Massachusetts where Connecticut and Rhode Island meet.

The community contains about 8000 year round residents. The town was named after Dr. William Douglas of Boston who donated funds for the establishment of free schools in the town.

Today the town remains a residential upland community that is not only picturesque but also relaxing for both raising a family and retirement.

NIGHT SKY PROGRAM AND VIEWING

Come join us as we introduce the sky each month! In addition to pointing out the constellations visible on the evening, there will be a chance to observe seasonal deep-sky objects and visible planets through telescopes. There will also be a short presentation on the sky, including any celestial phenomena that might be visible in Northern Rhode Island.

Presenter: Francine Jackson teaches Astronomy at Framingham State University, Framingham, Mass., and she creates and performs programs at the University of Rhode Island Planetarium, Kingston, RI. She is a staff astronomer at the Brown University’s Ladd Observatory.

$10 per person. Call about a family rate or group rate. Appropriate for adults and families with school age children. Register by Wed.,January 28 for January program. If you miss the deadline call (401) 333-1341
